Before you hire anyone
Six things to ask every roofer
Whether you hire us or someone else, ask for these. A good contractor will hand them over without hesitating.
- Their NYC home improvement license number, and look it up yourself
- A certificate of liability insurance, sent straight from their insurance agent
- Proof of workers' compensation coverage
- Who pulls the permits, if your job needs them
- Manufacturer certifications you can verify on the manufacturer's site
- A written contract with the price, scope, schedule and warranty

FAQ
Licensing and insurance questions
How do I check your NYC license?
Use the license lookup on the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) website and search for license number 2125865-DCWP. You can also call 311 and ask for DCWP.
Can I get a certificate of insurance?
Yes. Ask when you book, and we'll have our insurance agent send it to you, your co-op or condo board, or your building manager before work starts.
Do you pull permits?
When your job needs a permit, we handle it. We'll tell you at the estimate whether yours does.
Why does it matter if a roofer is insured?
Roofing is dangerous work. If an uninsured worker is hurt on your property, or your house is damaged, you could end up dealing with the claim yourself. Always get proof of liability and workers' comp insurance first.
